2025-2026 PRE-MEETING ACTIVITIES
CHARITY COACH & CHAT
Members gather (11:00am-12:00noon) to chat and share their work on charity projects. We solve any problems that have come up as well as interesting techniques, places, or resources we have discovered since last we met. It is a good idea to have a small note book and pen for sketches, writing down ideas and resource suggestions, as well as new friends’ names and contact info.
This year there will not be a preplanned specific curriculum, but one developed by the group depending on its given needs and direction. Our focus is on improving our skills and confidence as quilters while supporting the charity work of the Guild.

BLOCK OF THE MONTH
The format for the BOM (12:noon - 12:45pm) is different this year. As in previous years the Sept block can be made from the instructions without a prior class or explanation. This Sept, however, members are required to choose their design in order to complete their block. All the designs have the same mechanics. The question is which design will you choose to make? Quilting is more than technical mastery of a prescribed pattern or kit. We all have our own approach and choices to be made. This year will be a guided adventure; one that is possible, safe and hopefully eye opening.
Beginning with the Oct BOM things will change. Members have asked me for something more advanced than the past simplified BOM patterns. The theme for the year will be variations of sunflowers. The block lay-out will be available for 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12 inch blocks. Members can choose any of the sizes to submit for the drawing. In the BOM time, 12:00 -12:45, there will be a class including hand sewing and design skills. The skills covered will be some combination of: Stitch and Flip, Prairie Points, Applique in various forms, Folded Work, Woven Work, Trapunto, and Embroidery Accents. Members can choose to use the technique in the next month's block or something else.
In the Sept BOM class we will discuss member preferences and set the calendar for the year.

EMPIRE QUILTERS ART GROUP
It is with great joy that a group of art quilters who have an interest in mixed media has organized. The purpose of the group is to have fun while creating, sharing beauty, joy and inspiration. We gather to share creations, discuss inspiration, techniques, material and questions that arise from the group.
